sea level and takes about 5 to 6 years to harvest. I visited Shangri-La back in July. Together with my Tibetan friend, we walked 3 hours into the mountain and searched for almost 4 hours, only to find 6 matsutake. It really is time consuming. Then I cooked some dishes: matsutake sashimi, grilled matsutake, stewed silkie with matsutake and ham and mushroom sauce. We eat them with rice, noodles and bait blocks. What a nice meal!
